Changes That Last - How to Get Unstuck in Life and Love

(Ideal for relationship-focused groups or addiction recovery settings)

Lasting change is difficult.  Most of us have things or circumstances in our life that we wish were different, but we find genuine change comes hard and lasting change even harder.  Over the years I’ve observed that some people are actually able to implement positive lasting change in their lives, while others remain stuck, spinning their wheels in futile efforts that leave them more hopeless and discouraged.  Unfortunately, the longer we stay stuck, the more hopeless it feels.  We fall prey to the misconception that if we just try hard enough somehow our circumstances will change.

I believe there's too much focus on the behavior and the behavior is not the problem, it's the symptom. Changing or modifying behavior is part of the puzzle, but setting the structure to sustain the behavior changes is the important part.  Behavior modification is not the path to lasting change but rather the result of a change in something else.  This presentation challenges the audience to embrace the source of the problem and make practical changes that truly last.
